Mary Jo Mallon

Mary Jo Mallon started playing the violin at a very young age, and her first violin teacher was an original Dr. Suzuki violin student. She graduated from Drake University in 1982 with a Bachelor in Music Education. She then taught for 37 years, all in the Waterloo Community Schools, and retired in 2019. Mary Jo has always loved music and teaching students, and has taught all levels of string instruction from beginners to advanced players. She is Suzuki trained but will also use a variety of methods to develop musical ability in each student. Mary Jo expresses that it is her joy to see and hear students learn and accomplish great music making abilities as they all make music together.
