Lydia Watkins

Lydia Watkins grew up in North Dakota and began studying piano at the age of nine. In 2023 she received her bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Valley City State University. While at VCSU she would often accompany the choir and taught private lessons through the Community School of the Arts. 

 

In 2025 Lydia received her master's degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Northern Iowa. While pursuing her degree she accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists for various rehearsals and performances, and taught group piano classes. During her time at UNI she also taught private lessons through the Community Music School. She has also served as substitute pianist in the Cedar Valley.

 

Lydia currently maintains a studio at Music Hill where she tailors lessons to students' goals and preferred style of music while also helping students become a well-rounded musician. She is a member of the Music Teachers’ National Association and Iowa Music Teachers’ Association.
